Kitty Litter Box Table DIY

So the title doesn't sound very appealing, but i promise it's cute! and convenient.
Most of you know I recently let a little Hermy kitten into my room. I haven't had cats in the house since... I was twelve. And then I didn't have a litter box in my room. Along came Hermy, and I quickly found out how ugly litter boxes are.. and stinky.
Skip forward a few weeks to my mother and I standing around my table that looked something like the picture to the right at the time. I hated the drawer in it, it was ugly and didn't fit in right, so I just took it out. My mother came up with the wonderful idea to turn my table into a litter box hider. Apparently people do this all the time. Anyways, loved the idea, so we went to the thrift store and found some fabric. Score!

Look at that pretty fabric. (I have some leftover, too. Oh the things I'll make) After a fresh coat of paint, I made the curtains. No sewing involved.. just a little hot glue. Someday I will learn to sew like a pro. I pleated the fabric, glued it to a ribbon, then velcroed it to the table. Simple enough.
Aren't the little tie back curtains cute? Of course Hermy doesn't appreciate them. He also seems to think that it's a playhouse, not a bathroom. I'm hoping I don't come home one day and it's ripped to shreds.

So here's my Mom's fantastic idea brought to life. Anyone do anything else creative to hide their litter boxes?
Happy almost Friday everyone!

  3. Great Idea- I found a piece of furniture- Can't wait to make the curtains! I pulled the furniture away from the wall so the kitties can walk behind it so the litter box is fully covered. Thanks for the great idea!
